Sharp Ships PN-455 45-Inch High-Definition LCD Monitor

Sharp Ships PN-455 45-Inch High-Definition LCD MonitorBigger is better, and sharper is best when it comes to monitors. That being said, Sharp is now shipping the company's largest professional LCD monitor, the 45-inch model PN-455. The "future proof" (as they say) 45-inch monitor has a 1920 x 1080 HD resolution with more than six million pixel elements for accurate image reproduction. With a streamlined black bezel, rear metal enclosure and dual cooling fans for extended use applications, the PN-455 will fit into most any digital signage or information display setting. Developed for companies looking to install or update digital signage or information display applications, the Sharp PN-455 LCD monitor is designed for high-resolution digital signage, TV broadcast and production, graphics, corporate/education, government (including homeland security), medical/healthcare, staging and rental and transportation center/FID applications.

Sharp's LCD monitor line has anti-glare and low-reflection properties, 170-degree viewing angles, and a Black TFT/Bright Pixel Elimination feature ensures that if a failed pixel occurs, it is effectively invisible to the viewer. Sharp!

New Sony Grand WEGA High-Def TVs

New Sony Grand WEGA High-Def TVsSports fans rejoice! Sony's new Grand WEGA 3LCD HDTV models are now shipping throughout the United States - just in time for summer sports. With broadcasters committed to delivering more HDTV sports action this summer, the season promises to be a benchmark for high-definition programming. Sony's new Grand WEGA HD models -- the KDF-E60A20 (60-inch), KDF-E55A20 (55-inch), and KDF-E50A10 (50-inch) -- begin shipping this week. Additionally, the KDF-E42A10 (42-inch) model will ship in late July.

Sony's KDF-E42A10 (42-inch) and KDF-E50A10 (50-inch) models feature a new design with a thin dark black bezel, a compact body (approximately 14 -16 inches deep) and, for the first time, invisible speakers located at the bottom of the set. As a result, these new sets now fit into space that previously may have been too small. Compared to enhanced definition televisions and other technologies, the Grand WEGA TVs deliver natural color reproduction and exceptional brightness levels due to 3LCD technology with 1280 x 720 native 720p resolution. All four new models also provide access to Sony's WEGA GATE on-screen guide, which with a push of a button enables you to perform a variety of tasks intuitively on a simple control panel.

NPD Techworld's latest update from June 4 shows Sony's Grand WEGA dominating the high-definition micro-display product category with nearly 40 percent dollar share and almost 35 percent unit share. If the new sets deliver half as well as the former models, they will likely retain that position.

Samsung Electronics Rolls Out the 100-Millionth Large TFT-LCD

Samsung Electronics Rolls Out the 100-Millionth Large TFT-LCDSamsung Electronics recently produced its 100-millionth large TFT-LCD panel. After the company launched an ambitious bid in the TFT-LCD market, this feat was achieved in 10 years.

Ready for your history lesson? The significance of the 100-millionth milestone means Samsung Electronics has firmly established its position as the leader in global display industry. Starting with R and D efforts in 1991 and overcoming numerous obstacles, Samsung Electronics went into full-scale production of 100,000 units from its first production line in 1995, followed by cumulative production of 1 million units by 1997.

The company rolled out the 10-millionth panel in 2000 and, three years later, produced the 50-millionth unit. Today's 100-millionth panel marks a growth 1,000 times larger than the company's first year production figure of 100,000 units in 1995. It is clear that Samsung Electronics' LCD business has grown explosively for the past decade. And, if it weren't clear, it is now!
